Chill Out with Soundole

Once again, GameGrooves is proud to sponsor Soundole’s Chill Out Cover Competition. For those who don’t know, this is an annual competition that invites musicians to create their most chilled-out video game arrangement. What’s more, there is almost $500 in cash prizes for 6 different prize categories, and even if you don’t win, there’s plenty of enjoyment to be had simply from participating.

GUIDELINES

(Taken from video description)

  1. To enter, make a cover of a piece of video game music in a relaxed, chilled-out style (that can mean whatever you want). It must be uploaded to YouTube, publicly. Video production is recommended, but not required (it can just be a still image with audio over the top, if that's all you're comfortable producing).

  2. Maximum length is 7 minutes. Medleys are fine so long as they're under that time limit. Sorry if your work is longer, but I have to put a cap on the time that judges will spend listening! Much shorter is also fine (your track won't be judged as 'better' just because it's longer!)

  3. Entry closes on 23:59, EDT, May 31st, 2022. Your video must be uploaded and made public by then because judging will start straight away.

  4. Your video must be uploaded or premiered during the month of May 2022, so no videos you've uploaded before the start of the competition, please.

  5. One entry per YouTube channel/person. If you're producing multiple tracks during this time that fit the bill, submit the one you think is best! Collaborations are fine, so long as you figure out amongst yourselves what to do with a single prize if you win! You may make guest appearances in as many collaborations as you like, so long as there is still only one entry from each channel/person.

  6. Previous winners are welcome to enter the current competition. Judges of the current competition are ineligible to enter (both on their own and as part of collaborations), but judges of previous competitions may enter, too! The judges for this year are @Jordan Moore, @Tiggs, and @8-bit Music Theory.

  7. There are 6 distinct winning categories:

    • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd judging audio exclusively

    • Audience Choice (a poll will be held after the end of the competition)

    • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd judging video exclusively

  8. Prizes will be the following amounts of cash sent through PayPal (all USD):

    • Audio 1st Place: $100

    • Audio 2nd Place: $75

    • Audio 3rd Place: $50

    • Audio Honorable Mention: $25

    • Audience Choice: $50

    • Video Production 1st Place: $75

    • Video Production 2nd Place: $60

    • Video Production 3rd Place: $40

  9. You do not need a Paypal account to participate, but you will need to provide your Paypal email in order to receive prize-money.
