If you were a fan of Materia Collective’s Super Mario 64 jazz tribute album, Hang On to Your Hat, this cover by The 8-Bit Big Band will be right up your alley. From the start, the arrangement, orchestration, and performances are impeccable, but when Mark Dover enters the scene around the one-minute mark, this cover leaves the stratosphere and heads straight for outer space! To put it bluntly, I’ve never heard a clarinet that sounded this good, and I’m desperate to hear more of Mark’s music (VGM or not).
