4th Annual Chill Out Cover Competition
The Soundole Chill Out Cover Competition is just what we need right now. For those who don’t know, this annual competition invites artists of all skill levels to create the most chilled-out cover possible, and it’s one of my favorite VGM events every year. This year, GameGrooves will be hosting some of the prizes, but the real reward is seeing this talented community come together again!
GUIDELINES
(Taken from video description)
To enter, make a cover of a piece of video game music in a relaxed, chilled out style (that can mean whatever you want). It must be uploaded to YouTube, publicly. Video production is recommended, but not required (it can just be a still image with audio over the top, if that's all you're comfortable producing).
Maximum length 7 minutes. Medleys are fine so long as they're under that time limit. Sorry if your masterpiece is longer, but I have to put a cap on the time that judges will spend listening! Much shorter is also fine (your track won't be judged as 'better' just because it's longer!)
Entry closes on 23:59, EST, May 31st, 2021. Your video must be uploaded and made public by then, because judging will start straight away. Feel free to use #SoundoleChillOut2021 and make sure you fill out the entry form located here: https://forms.gle/RTzxXp5zuV1Ls6W26
One entry per Youtube channel/person. If you're producing multiple tracks during this time that fit the bill, submit the one you think is best! Also, it has to be a track that you are releasing in May, so no submissions of existing tracks, please.
Previous winners are welcome to enter the current competition. Judges of the current competition are ineligible, but judges of previous competitions may enter, too! The judges for this year are @David Erick Ramos - Ocarina, @Lacey Johnson Music, and @Laura Intravia.
There are 6 distinct winning categories: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd judging audio exclusively, Audience Choice (a poll will be held after the end of the competition), Video Production, and Video Production Runner-Up. Prizes will be the following amounts of cash sent through PayPal (all USD):
Audio 1st Place: $100
Audio 2nd Place: $75
Audio 3rd Place: $50
Audio Honourable Mention: $25
Audience Choice: $50
Video Production: $75
Video Production Runner-Up: $50
Collaborations are fine, so long as you figure out amongst yourselves what to do with a single prize if you win!
