5th Annual Game Music Remix Awards

VGM Conline

Hosted by VGM Con and sponsored by the Game Audio Network Guild and GameGrooves, the 5th Annual Game Music Remix Awards will be an awesome show of friends, fun, prizes and video game music. If you released a video game remix or cover between November 23, 2019 and December 31st, 2020, submit your track for a chance to win some fantastic music software prizes courtesy of the Game Audio Network Guild and cover albums courtesy of GameGrooves!

Choose one or more categories for your submission(s):

  • Best Symphonic or Orchestral Cover or Remix

  • Best Acoustic or Chamber Cover or Remix

  • Best Vocal Cover or Remix

  • Best Electronic Cover or Remix

  • Best Hybrid Cover or Remix

  • Best Rock or Metal Cover or Remix

  • Best Jazz or Funk Cover or Remix

  • Best Hip Hop or Rap Cover or Remix

  • Best Video Game Cover or Remix Album

  • Best Video Game Cover or Remix Music Video

Rules

1) Choose the category that best fits the music you are submitting.

a. Submit to the category that fits the primary description of your music. For example, if your track has one vocal edit, please do not submit it for the Best Vocal Cover or Remix category.

b. Best Hybrid Cover or Remix is defined as any blend of traditionally orchestral instruments with others, so please use this differentiation when choosing the submission category.

c. Best Electronic Cover or Remix doesn’t have to be 100% electronic, but it skews more in that direction than hybrid does.

d. The categories are meant to be broad and often have many subgenres or related genres, so please use your best judgement or check with us if you aren’t sure.
e. You can submit the same track in both Best Video Game Cover or Remix Music Video and another genre category.

f. Nerdcore, even if not specifically a cover, can still be eligible for the Best Hip Hop or Rap Cover or Remix category

2) All submissions must have been originally released between November 23, 2019 and not including, January 1, 2021.

a. The original release must fit within the date window provided, a re-release will not count.

b. Entirely new performances of pre-existing arrangements still count as new releases.

3) All submissions must be received by Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021 at 11:59pm EST.

4) Each artist may submit a maximum of two tracks per category.

a. An artist is defined as the name the track was released under. So, if you are in a band, the band as a whole can only be submitted twice, not twice per member.

b. If your track is released as being by two separate artists, that still counts as one submission for each artist.

c. Despite being able to submit twice per category, each artist is only eligible to be nominated once per category.

5) All submissions must be original remixes or covers of music from a video game or video game series.

a. Any tracks using samples from the original game and or other media (film, video games, etc.) might not be able to be played on stream.

6) All links must be available to judges until the end of the awards ceremony.

7) All submissions must be completed by one of the primary or featured artists of the track and that is who the award will be given to.

a. Any collaborative tracks can only be submitted and nominated once, by a primary or featured artist. It is up to the submitters who will submit.

8) All submissions must include a streaming link to the track as well as a link to a 30 second downloadable file of your entry. All streaming links must be either SoundCloud, Bandcamp, or Youtube.

a. Entrants into the Best Video Game Cover or Remix Music Video do not need to make a download available for entry.

b. The 30 second download is simply to have something to play during the awards if you are nominated. So make it your favorite 30 seconds, or whatever you want to represent your entry.

c. The 30 second download is NOT what is being judged. Your entry will be judges as a whole.

9) To submit more than one entry, simply fill out the entry form multiple times up to the allowed amount.

10) Entries may be disqualified for not following the rules listed above, so if you aren’t sure, please verify with us to ensure your submission will be counted.

VGM Con will be held between April 22nd and 25th, 2021.  To find out more info, you can visit their website: https://vgmcon.org/.
