After repeatedly hearing about the Ikenfell OST, I decided to have a listen today, and what composers Aivi & Surasshu, and Sabrielle Augustin have created is nothing short of incredible. I’m only about a third of the way through the OST, but I felt compelled to immediately share this soundtrack with anyone who has not heard of it. You might know Aivi & Surasshu from Steven Universe, a show that I’m not familiar with myself, but I have heard great things about both the show and its composers. It comes as no surprise, then, that this soundtrack is perfectly balanced, incorporating chiptune and live instruments in a way that’s captivating as it is charming. I could compare this OST to Celeste or Super Mario Galaxy or any number of other games, but the truth is that Ikenfell is inimitable. I fully intend to finish the soundtrack, play the game, and continue talking about Ikenfell for some time to come.
