Artist Quotes:
"The music of the Metroid series has a dark and somber tone that I don't think can be easily found elsewhere. “Magmoor Caverns” stands out to me as sounding especially intimidating, and I think it translated really well to a heavier style. My version utilizes the thundering low range of a 9-string guitar along with many layers of vocals in an attempt to create choir sections. I hope you'll enjoy my take on this piece!" - BillytheBard11th
"Dire, Dire Docks is one of the most iconic pieces of video game music ever. This arrangement is presented through the lens of modern jazz composition with ideas like compound meter, subtle reharmonization, simple melodic counterpoint, and other musical ideas. Inspired by modern jazz musicians such as Zac Zinger and Brian Blade, this version of Koji Kondo's classic composition was designed to blend the old with a new, refreshing perspective" - Eric L
"As with all of the tracks from the Genesis Sonic games, I feel a strong nostalgic connection to "Sky Chase Zone". It accompanies a relaxing moment between two levels which are hard as nails. Sky Chase Zone feels like both a reward and the last point of rest before the end of the game. In my cover, I tried to exaggerate that restful mood by relaxing the tempo a little bit, writing some new bass and drum parts, and turning pads into flowing EWI sweeps. I hope you enjoy the result!" - Soundole VGM Covers
"When given the task of covering a VGM song related to Earth, 'Minecraft's "Wet Hands" seemed like a solid choice, so I went for a slow acoustic feel with some added parts such as banjo and a simple slow drum beat for extra folk vibes." - Kain White
"I've always wanted to cover 'Laser Beam' from Persona Q, and after being approached with arranging a song with the theme 'lightning', I figured what better time to do so. Since this is such a beloved song in the Persona community, I wanted to keep it pretty true to the original while adding hints of my own style. After recruiting one of my favorite collaborators in the world, Lacey Johnson, this cover came out exactly as I wanted to since I first heard it." - Legendav
"I had a great time making this electronic orchestral space funk diddle. I played the crap out of this game as a kid, and it brought joy into my pants when I made this remix. Mixing orchestral elements with synths was a challenge since their timbres don't always mix well. GameGrooves wanted a single for his album Elements, and this element was "Neon". It made sense for it to be electronic for the genre, and a space themed remix worked well too. Enjoy my first commissioned piece!" - Vector U
