Here are the Ikenfell QFCC Winners!

Ikenfell

It’s no secret that I’ve been a little obsessed with the Ikenfell OST lately, so naturally, I created a Quick Fire Cover Challenge (QFCC) a few weeks ago. While only six people participated, all submissions were fantastic arrangements, and I couldn’t chose the best among them. Instead, I let the entrants choose their favorites, so without further ado, here are the Top 3 Ikenfell Quick Fire Covers!

1. “Rhythm of the Wild/Battle 1 - Ikenfell Cover” by Andy-RU

It came as no surprise that Andy-RU was chosen as the top cover, especially given his recent work with Dreaming of Starbits. Andy has an uncanny ability to create a perfect blend of instruments, textures, and melodies, and this cover is a perfect example of how he expertly manages his sound with interesting percussive choices (a pillow?) as well as versatile playing (slappa da bass).

Note: Although this video was released publicly on Nov. 4, Andy shared this with me before the contest ended.

2. “Ikenfell - Lullaby for a Witch (Title Theme) cover” by The Gamba Geek

This relaxing cover by The Gamba Geek is a simple, charming affair, and I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy the lute guitar! The Gamba Geek always brings her own vision to video game music by including traditional, often obscure instruments that transport us to a different place and time.

3. “Ikenfell - In This Together (DMajor Cover)” by DMajor

While DMajor’s Quick Fire Album hasn’t been released yet, I can assure you that this cover is a small taste of what he has to offer. I dare you to listen to this cover without falling in love with that groove!

Thank you to everyone who entered and keep your eyes open for the next GameGrooves Quick Fire Cover Challenge!

Below is a playlist of all the entries, minus Isaac Schutz (which can be found here).
