Celebrating One Year of GameGrooves Music!

Over the past year, GameGrooves Music has released 9 albums and 100 tracks, featured over 200 artists, created over 6 hours of music, and generated over $300 for charity. This Friday, GameGrooves will release its 10th album, Link-182: A Pop Punk Tribute to Ocarina of Time. While there are too many people to thank individually, I would like to call attention to the following individuals for their hard work, dedication, and creativity:

Heroes (ft. Pixel Mixers)

Pixel Mixers and GameGrooves partnered to release Heroes, a special album raising money for Child's Play Charity. Featuring the remixing talent of the Pixel Mixers community alongside support from GameGrooves, some of the best game music has to offer is covered with tracks from Mario, Pokémon, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot and Mega Man along with indie favorites Celeste, Shovel Knight, and Undertale. The eclectic offerings include rock and electronic remixes along with piano ballads and upbeat children's music.

Elements invites the listener to experience the primal fury of fire, the soothing calm of water, the soaring joy of air, the heart-warming comfort of Mother Earth, the hair-rising power of electricity, and the glowing energy of Neon.

Cry of the Planet

Thirty-six artists from eleven countries came together to create an album that would make a statement—we want justice. Justice for George Floyd. Justice for Breonna Taylor. Justice for every victim of a racist, despotic system. Themes of oppression and resistance can be found in all forms of entertainment, even video games, and these 21 tracks provide emotional catharsis both for the listener and the artists that created them. Her Theme: A Tribute to Women In Gaming

GameGrooves partnered with Girls Make Games for the charity album, Her Theme: A Tribute to Women in Gaming. For those who don’t know, Girls Make Games is a series of summer camps, workshops and game jams designed to inspire the next generation of designers, creators, and engineers. If you want to learn more about Girls Make Games, read our article “What Is Girls Make Games?”. Her Theme features 11 tracks from 12 artists, including video game covers from Celeste, Castlevania, and Bastion as well as three original compositions.

Rainbow Roads: A Queer Tribute to Video Game Music

This album seeks to highlight LGBTQ+ composers, characters and video games as well as cover artists. The album is available on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and more, and all proceeds will be donated to ILGA World and Mermaids Charity.

Archstones: A Metal Tribute to Demon's Souls

The 4th album in the GameGrooves Elements series, Archstones: A Metal Tribute to Demon's Souls invites the listener on a metal journey through the kingdom of Boletaria. Fight your way to the Old One as you face pummeling riffs, haunting vocals, and soaring solos, but be warned—this album is not for the faint of heart.

Heartwood (ft. Pixel Mixers)

Once again, GameGrooves partnered with Pixel Mixers for Heartwood, a charity album in support of Rainforest Trust. For those who don’t know, Rainforest Trust is a US-based nonprofit environmental organization focused on the purchase and protection of tropical lands to strategically conserve threatened species. Heartwood features 15 tracks from 24 artists, including video game covers from Chrono Trigger, Octopath Traveler, Trials of Mana, Xenoblade Chronicles, and more.
